Invitation for a Tour

A local expert in the San Diego community recently made a public announcement that implied that all cases at Hannah's House have to "sit in a room for 4 hours."  This caught all of us at HH by surprise! Since our early beginnings we have allowed families to enjoy ordinary outdoor activities once we are sure that the Visiting Parent is able to keep the children physically safe on their outdoor excursions.

We were located in Old Town San Diego from 1988-1991, then within easy walking distance of Balboa Park from 1992-2012. Families utilizing our current location in Kearny Mesa enjoy an outside patio area with playground toys for toddlers and young children as well as a full size basketball hoop and a ping pong table for the older children.

Anything within walking distance of the facility has always been allowed unless a Court Order specifically confines the family to onsite only - even in these cases, we have always offered an onsite outdoor privilege. Since 1988, we have allowed families to utilize public transportation for their family time. With the advent of inexpensive ride sharing services, that privilege has been extended to include wider travel as long as the Court Order or HH Policies do not allow the particular destination.

Our goal has always been to create family environments that are safe/secure AND child and family friendly.  We give tours to interested community members every week. Critics of Hannah's House sometimes provide information based on their assumptions or stories they have heard, rather than direct experience. For example, the number of attorneys, judges, and 730 evaluators who recommend or don't recommend the 2 Home Kids Program at HH for supervised visitation services is significant, while the numbers who have toured the facility or asked for an orientation to policy and procedure are relatively few.

We would love the opportunity to provide a quick, fun, and informative tour to any professional person or group of professionals who which to take advantage of this free service. You will get a chance to meet our Animal Staff (Human-Animal Bond Program) and our Human Staff (6 Programs).

Join us soon to explore our themed Family Rooms:

You will also learn about our Transitions Family Program which is in its 6th year of providing specialized educational and therapy services to parents and children involved in Family Court.

Hannah's House is celebrating our 30th Anniversary this year. We have served the families referred by the Family Courts of the county since 1988.
